Expectations of Prospective Members and Their Families

Musicians are entering grades 5-10+, have some experience performing in an ensemble such as a school band, are willing and able to fully participate in all rehearsals and concerts and independently practice as necessary for quality performance. Auditions are arranged by contacting BYO's manager, Kate McLoughlin, at manager@byoweb.org. Prospective members should be prepared to site read and perform a short rehearsed selection. Click the auditions link for more information.

Expectations of Members and Their Families

Musicians are expected to attend all rehearsals and be seated, warmed up and ready for the downbeat at 9 am. All musicians sign up for various duties, including assisting with percussion and riser set up and break down. All musicians are to take their chair and music stand to its rack after rehearsal. A code of conduct addresses behavior.

Parents are the backbone of the organization. Each family will be assigned three duty dates for stage duty, snack duty, and concert duty. In addition, families are asked to contribute to the concert bake sales: last name beginning A-L should bring easily consumed food items; last name beginning M-Z should bring cold drinks in individual containers. Please deliver your bake sale items via the front lobby doors at least one half hour prior to the scheduled concert time.
