Snack & Stage Duty Instructions
If you are not available on the date you are assigned, please make your own arrangements to switch dates with another parent and notify the Orchestra Administrator of the change.
SNACK DUTY
Snack is held at 10:30 each Saturday (2:00 on concert days), unless noted. Arrive by 10:00am (or 1:30 for a concert) to sign in, and contact the Orchestra Administrator or backstage duty parent for directions. Break is 20 minutes long.
| You and your partner family are responsible for: |
|
- Setting up the snack tables and putting out the snacks
- Supervising the snack service to ensure all members get snacks
- Providing a healthy snack and a drink (no soda please) for all orchestra members (estimate 95) and staff (estimate 10)
- Cleaning up debris and putting away the tables
|
| BYO will provide napkins, cups and tables. All are located in our closet. |
Remember:
- Snack must be set out & ready for the kids to quickly grab. It’s 100 kids with only 20 minutes.
- Try to keep to food that is not too messy and easily eaten by hand.
- It’s just a snack - offer enough to get the kids through rehearsal.
Snack Ideas
- Bagels cut in half. You can offer them with cream cheese if you’d like, but they must be already spread with the cream cheese.
- Fruit, like apples cut in quarters, bananas cut in half, etc.
- Granola bars
- Healthy crackers: graham, wheat thins, etc. (no chips please)
- Muffins (Costco muffins should be cut in half)
- PLEASE NO NUTS as some of our members are allergic.
STAGE SET-UP/BACKSTAGE SECURITY
Arrive at 8:15 a.m. for rehearsals or 12:30 p.m. for concerts. Please sign in and meet with the Stage Manager (Kyle) for instructions. You can expect to be released no later than 12:30 (for rehearsals) or 30 minutes after the end of a concert.
At each rehearsal and concert, you and your partner family are responsible for assisting in setting up and taking down chairs, stands, risers, percussion equipment and acoustic shell (concert only) before and after the rehearsal/concert.
In addition, you are required to remain during rehearsal (not concerts) to:
- Monitor the backstage area and theater to ensure that non-members do not wander through the theater.
- Ensure that members remain on stage and in the designated areas during snack.
- Assist the Orchestra Manager in directing coaches and members to the appropriate rooms during sectionals and help to pass out materials as needed.
- Ensure that the theater is left free of debris following the rehearsal or concert.
